...after waiting two weeks for the shop to get it sorted out. Thankfully, this is one of those stories where the cheesy used vehicle warranty I purchased actually covered 7.5 hours of labor and the cost of the replacement oil cooler. Fucking Powerstroke engines...but I love the truck anyway. It’s a love/hate relationship with my truck.

Step One: Remove the cab.

Believe it or not, they did the Y-pipe and oil cooler without removing the cab. Still a pain in the ass, and I love the truck despite the aggravation.

I get to deal with an LLY Duramax. I was driving an F-150 for truck needs, but I’m liking the GM truck.
At least I haven’t had the T-case go boom. It’s only got 311K miles on the odometer.

I’ve heard mixed stories about the LLY - how has yours been holding up?

It has foibles. One is that the Headliner has classic GM headliner rot. Two, it had a hole in the bed, that RamblinRover helped with patching. Three it doesn’t have the top two speeds of the fan for the HVAC due to issues with the resistor and the connector (That will get fixed at some point)

Right now, it needs a transmission fluid change and an oil service. The transfer case doesn’t show signs of pump rub (someone may have already fixed that with the odometer being north of 300,000). The engine itself is solid, and the Allison transmission cannot be faulted if you run with a stock tune.
Since I use it to tow the crapsack Audi S4 to the racetrack, it’s done well. In a few weeks I’ll be driving it from Atlanta to Naples, FL without a trailer. It may get more than 14 MPG.

Sounds like a good, stout truck overall. Nice bit of metalwork, by the way! I’ve heard good things about the Allison transmissions here and there, good to hear it from an owner finally. 14 mpg isn’t too bad, especially when towing a load. Mine manages 8 - 12 mpg when towing a fifth wheel, I haven’t tried it out with a conventional trailer yet.
Also, gotta ask, how do the GT stats stack up against UGA this year? Auburn’s not gonna make it. I love my alum, but Auburn just doesn’t have the right stuff against the Dawgs this year.
